I can only hope that between now and November the American people come to their collective senses and get rid of this madman Trump. He is simply the worst example of any politician I've come across, and I'm counting numerous highly corrupt African politicians in that group. He's only interested in being surrounded by brown nosed 'yes men'. Anyone who has the temerity to actually speak the truth, especially when it doesn't agree with Trumps agenda is fired, witness Pompeo arranging for the firing of an Inspector General who spoke out against the trump administation. One of the big problems as I see it is that Joe Biden is hardly a dynamic alternative to Trump, but hopefully he is at least honest and will work for the good of the American people.

Sadly Kenny, there just does not seem anyone worthy enough in the states, to take up the mantle so to speak.

I think for reasons beyond my comprehension. The voters in America plumped for Trump over Clinton simply because they were fed up with politicians. He got in that way and of course not forgetting the system of voting (College) they use over there.

We are seeing politicians over here stumbling a bit. Getting things wrong and not clarifying a lot of stuff.
I know it is difficult but a lot of these folk go into politics saying they do it because they want to make a difference. Yet when things get tough. They have neither the brains nor the gumption to do just that.

These are sad times indeed. Not only as far as health goes but also our economy which may in the long run, take even longer than expected to recover.
I'm one of those people who would agree to more taxation to assist recovery. But then again I'm in a position to do so.
Don't get me wrong I'm not boasting. I'm a guy who's worked all his life for what he has just like a lot of others.
But after all this. We do need to sort out our social and welfare system and stop all these free loaders who get it all for doing sweet bugger all.

I listen to a lot a so called British people moaning about immigrants coming her, taking jobs, taking our money.
If it wasn't for immigrants the ****** NHS wouldn't operate.
If it wasn't for immigrants or foreign labour our fruit and veg producers wouldn't have their crops collected.

I know I'm moaning.
But if in this country we offer freeloaders the opportunity to earn more by doing fuck all, than actually going out to work. What incentive is there.

Jeez.......... vote for me. I would get them off there arses

Every country has those who learn how to use the system to their advantage, mostly supported by the working masses.

Like you, I worked for every thing I got, and I kept working by adapting to new ways of working or learning new skills and taking on new and larger roles. It was hard and kept me from home a lot, but it paid in the long run.

Today we have a lot of folks who start life not willing to take on the harder subjects in education (STEM) and opt for the liberal arts and softer degrees which, in all honesty, are a waste of time and effort. You will find it very hard to find a job with such degrees, and if you do, it will pay you nothing!

So we have a society that feels like they went to university, got a degree, and now they cant get a job...why? wrong education! I have counselled young folk on this over the years and they dont listen. They spend 4 years getting a soft degree (Lib Arts) and then come out and end up getting a job serving in a shop (retail) making minimum wage!

Also the level of education provided to these folk makes them unemployable! I have dealt with so many who are so uneducated, yet have a degree! They dont understand some of the basic principles used in business! In the US we lag so very far behind other countries such as France, Germany, Denmark etc... its a joke!

Yet where do our leaders take us? Build a huge wall to keep out migrants! That was the main focus for the last 3 years! Not education, or infrastructure, just a war on foreigners and a bulls4it slogan of MAGA!

How great is America looking now???

Leaders need to be visionaries and BE able to see and mitigate the risks so that we are not in the mess we are in today with this virus. Instead, we have someone who panders to a certain subsections base prejudices and animosities, to rile up folks against others, as a means to getting back in to office! Then when a real major issue arises (virus), is completely unable to think his way out, let alone devise a cohesive strategy for the nation...its all about him, not about America or Americans!

The county is broken, and he broke it, and he owns the broken country he made, but he doesn't own me or you! Time to hold him to account, time for someone new. In the land of the blind the one eyed man is king!

Totally agree Pops.
Education is a wonderful thing. If it's used properly.
For years it was pushed to the forefront. Schooling, further education, university. Gotta get a degree.

The result.
Nobody could get a plumber or an electrician and building sites were calling out for carpenters and bricklayers.
Everybody wanted to be a computer technician or do something on the inter web

You watch television today and young people want to be celebrities. WTF.
The stars of today are people with no talents. They appear on reality tv and that's it.
Could it be a case of being famous for being famous.

And so am I and proud of it - I completely agree with you regarding the totally useless 'talents' that certain people feel is so neccessary for life! I agree too with pops summary of life, especially in the States under the present regime. Something needs to change, radically.

Agree so much with you guys....even at these uncertain times there will be people...or should i say .."Influencers" tweeting and FB'ing etc away about what they are doing.
I recall some time ago being in a well know fast food place. All of a sudden there were screams and shrieks and all because a group of 4 recent Big Brother contestants had walked in.
Utter madness....It may be more prevelent in the US, or maybe more obvious, but we are one world controlled by the media

This is why the youth of our culture are uneducated and have heads full of cr4p. They are expert at texting and yet cannot pull together a sentence that makes sense, is grammatically correct, or is without multiple spelling mistakes on a job application, and yet they hold degrees! Many feel that education begins and ends once they leave school/university, and are shocked to find out it has not even begun yet, once the leave!

They sit playing violent video games and surfing social websites, day in day out, and never read a book! Most of what I know comes from reading books outside of a learning institution. Try and find anyone under the age of 35 who can say that today? Hell, even the president of the US is famed for saying he does not read books...now how could anyone tell that? I mean do you think it shows at all?

I do not mean to malign our youth, but come on! where is our educational leadership and for that matter leadership at home...that is where this all begins; in the home!

sorry for these rants...I really am, but this sh1t is really, really important!

Sadly Pops you have once again mentioned something I feel strongly about.
Home, Family etc.

Yes there are a lot of today's youth who follow the guidelines of good parenting. Yet there are still a lot more who don't.
I sometimes wonder why some people have kids. They take no interest in them or bring them up to believe in their own twisted values.

Sigh

Maybe it's this lockdown. I need a good shag to unwind myself.
Maybe even a bad shag for that matter.

I know exactly how you are feeling having been in that self same boat until very recently. I became 'involved' with a new lady friend around Christmas time, we got on well, she has a ki11er body and loves fucking, then covid19 and lockdown occurred and all the fun stopped for weeks and weeks. Fortunately, here in France, we're slightly ahead of the UK regarding getting back to 'normal' and we can now socialise within reason. The fuckfest has recommenced, thank Christ for that!

Never apologise for being in the right, pops. The points you make are extremely valid, unfortunately. In many ways one has to question the value of some peoples education and University degrees, often in the most bizarre of subjects that will have NO value in everyday life.

I have to say this.......... don't ask me how I know.
If I explained it I would have to k1ll you afterwards

Police f0rces throughout the country enrolled and fast tracked (promotion wise) lots of university educated applicants.
The idea being that if you could study for a degree (in any fuckin subject) you must have the ability to therefore learn quicker, evaluate situations better, be in control etc etc.

After a few years there was a plethora of people in senior positions who had no idea of real life situations from backgrounds far removed from officers on the ground.
Similarly f0rces promoted ethnic minorities so they could be seen to be non racist or good on sexual equaity.
Once again people in charge who were less qualified, emotionally, physically and mentally to do the job over the people they were in control of.

I had to laugh when the current leader of the Metropolitan police was put in that position.
She was the team leader who got a Brazilian electrician shot on the tube.
They thought he was a terrorist ....... remember.

I don't know guys. The stuff you are saying about the "younger generation" seems like the same stuff old people have been saying for centuries. I know that some of the values of the youth seemed fucked up and certainly some of them are. But let's not forget that the President is over 70 years old and the country is being basically run by the old farts. I'm pretty disappointed in my generation (the boomers) so I think I'll withhold judgement of the youth of today.

I'm a firm believer in the ethos that people get promoted on merit and their ability to do the job they have well and with a good grasp of what they're doing, NOT on the basis of their skin colour irrespective of what that might be, black, brown, yellow, and white. The ethnic background of whoever is unimportant, that ability to do the job well is far more important.

Absolutely correct Kenny. It was simply an exercise badly thought out. It was meant to show equality and yet failed miserably.

As for Littleboys comment.
I'm not sure us old farts are having a go at the youth of today

I'm a firm believer in change and it comes about through new thinking, new ideas.
It is up to the young of today to fight for change.

Otherwise us old farts just stay put, safe and comfortable in our slippers in front of the fire.

Littleboy77:
The stuff you are saying about the "younger generation" seems like the same stuff old people have been saying for centuries.

But its people of the older generation that generally hold the position of influence. "We" tend to be the ones who set educational standards, we hire youth into organizations, we observe performance and reward/promote/fire. Generally its not youth that perform these roles, primarily due to the fact that with age, comes experience and knowledge.

So I feel its is not only "our" job, but "our" duty to call out when we see education/parenting skills/youth going off the rails and not meeting the needs of a nation and industry/business. Reserving judgement is an obfuscation of duty, a sit on the fence approach, and one which I do not plan to follow. I call it as I see it, and I know its not a figment of my imagination.

Exceeding performance should always be the path to promotion and combined with experience, should be the very core of those who hold positions of authority. Neither of which, I would point out, the current POTUS has. Zero political experience, and zero history of exceeding performance within that field! In fact his recent history is one of abject failure, division of a nation, and a big uncontrollable mouth!

LOL but a mouth that is now partially being at least questioned on Twitter. Not censored mind as of course that would be a breach of his own rights.

Have to laugh as alot of this thread does start to sound as if it is all "grumpy old men" responding and ranting...but then thats coz we can all identify with something that has been said.
I know only too well being a "civil servant" that new graduates are dropped in and expected to rise through the ranks, that whole "fast stream idea", yet half of them couldn't do the basic job.

I agree with Rovers sentiments.

Of course part of "Us old men ranting" is simply because we ourselves have been young. Then grew into knowledgeable old farts.

As I well recall. I too was young and demanded change and thought everybody over 40 was ancient

I think we have all been in that state of mind as young people...its the nature of youth. However, it is also true, I feel, that as youth we were in the main, wrong in this respect. Everyone over 40 is not ancient, and they are not closed minded or too old to think "out of the box". Innovation and forward thinking is not reserved just for youth. However, I think that the "its always been done that way" frame mind IS reserved for the older generation, and its nearly always wrong to think that way... nearly. We should always try to find better ways to do things and advance as a species and society.

However, the finding of better ways comes from knowing what has been tried before, what has worked and what has not, and from innovation and risk taking. But these all must be informed by sound logic and be well thought out by the best minds available, and not on whims, opinion, political agenda's or shear spite which is what we get in DC these days. Just look at the over-reaction to Twitter's fact check on Trump! How is such an attack by Trump a preservation of free speech?

If you think you've seen it all from Trump, just wait 24 hours and he'll do something even more crazy and off the wall...hes so predictably unpredictable... and WRONG!

Just another blast of hot air from yours truly

I'm going to say it. It's a virus! It's not president Trumps fault. It started in China. May come as a surprise, but I don't care. lilmikey is a strong supporter of President Trump. Don't like it? Tough fucking s hi t. I hate discussing politics because you will never change my mind and I will never change yours. And yes, I spoke in the third person. This thread is as stupid as any fucking facebook thread about politics. No one wins. I won't be looking back here to see any responses, cause it would be a waste of my time. As for the virus, everyone please stay healthy.

I had to laugh at lilmikeys post.
Not because I find it offensive or even disagree with it. But it's a paradox of words.

His politics are his politics. If I disagree with it so be it. It's what democracy is all about.
It's the bit about politics should not be discussed on these threads.
Of course it should. Would be fuckin boring if we couldn't talk about all subjects and we agreed with each other all the time.
But to post your thoughts and then say your not going to read any replies........

Trump got voted into office and he is the president of the United States.
Will he go down in history as being someone who made a difference. Yes he will. But what differences ?

He is certainly a president like no other. A blistering shoot from the hip, say something without thinking it out first sort of guy.
He is as opposite to someone like Jimmy Carter as you could get.

His comments regarding George Floyd the other day outside the White House were about as uncaring and as stupid as any head of state could come out with.
Only his most loyal of supporters would disagree with that and Therein lies Trumps savour.

His supporters will remain loyal because they are as narcissistic as he is. Unchanging in viewpoints because they can never be wrong about anything.
I've had some memorable visits to America and met some great people. But my god it's a strange country of contradictions.

So come on lilmikey, if your there.
Tell me what great things your current president has done and I'd love to hear your views on his handling of the protesters complaining about the treatment of George Floyd.

He has built a wall!!!!!

....although I don't think the Mexicans have paid for it!

I have to say that i was surprised at lilmikeys post simply due to the fact it is on a forum that caters for such "unusual tastes"
Surely by the fact we are all here shows that we are a little out of the norm, that we are all here to share in something and embrace our differences.
I would have thought the fact we are all into this idea and variants of it would make us all more open to other viewpoints/opinions??

Believe me friends, most of us American citizens see through this fraud I like to refer to as the Clown Prince.

Lilmikey notwithstanding, most of us see now that all those early characterizations of him as a Hitler in the making have all been proving themselves to be true. What other kind of leader would threaten federal military action against its own citizens for peaceable assembly - and then make good on it by tear-gassing law abiding citizens and pushing them off the street so the asshole can walk to awkwardly hold up a bible he has never read in front of a church he does not attend.

Remember this is a guy who seriously suggested dropping nuclear bombs into the eye of a hurricane to break them up without a thought even about the spread of fallout being spread wide by 230km winds and Atlantic Ocean currents...

Remember also that he LOST the majority vote in the U.S. He was basically elected because of an archaic election structure made to offset the difficulties of the 18th century government to collect and apply ballots from multiple states.

Sorry turmp supporters, if you vote for this admitted con-artist, WE are getting what YOU deserve! As much as most of us also feel the main contender for the spot is an establishment hack, we have really gotten the picture as to the danger of voting in a destructive, vindictive narcissist who only cares about enriching himself with money and power.

Now, will someone please engage with me in discussing how my wife puts out for other men?
