Luvwatch, I agree. By the way, what's the difference between brightness and gamma? Seems to me that they play similar effects, but there must be some difference, of course. And again, Mr.Subhub, congratulations for your efforts!!!

Not really wanting this to become a techincal thread but Name - gamma affects the tonal range, more to do with the mid-points. If you use the excellent free Irfanview viewer/editor for pix, you can play with gamma, brightness and contrast independently to see it visually
Subhub - I hope this helps to save time - essentially you don't need to lighten your pix. Try looking at images from other threads - speedie's stimulus package in the captions section has good images.
You can get a free software tool to calibrate your PC monitor, not surprisingly called Monitor Calibration Wizard from majorgeeks.com
