Dresses were worn by male youngren in Europe as late as the early 1930s. The convention was they wore such female attire up until their first haircut, so I think it may be a vestige of paganism: i.e. warding off the evil eye. Should little boys be put into dresses? I doubt any 2 year old even would tolerate it, and you'd have a posse of social workers beating a path to your door. Interestingly when they hit their teens unisex clothing makes its appearance, but not skirts or dresses. I can think of some guys not a million miles from this spot who'd love to be made to wear gurlie stuff.
