My wife and I argued several times around 1993/4 about a guy we knew when it was obvious to me that they were becoming more and more friendly. I particularly remember being so angry at finding our itemised phone bill and seeing call after call to him often as soon as I'd left for work or just before I was due home.

I thought we'd sorted it out and whenever we saw him when we were at events we'd all be at, we avoided each other. Although Debbie and I had first started discussing the possibility of her going with other men with my approval in '97, it was a good 2 years before she had what I thought was her first extra-marital encounter with a young customer from the shop she worked in. We've chatted a lot since and to be honest, the only aspect of it that upset me was that he'd gone straight into work that evening and told a mutual friend of ours all about it, bragging, "You'll never guess who's wife's been round my place all afternoon!" I'm a bit embarrassed thinking that every time that mutual friend has seen me since - and that's nearly 23 years on - he's instantly recalled hearing about my wife being fucked and me being none the wiser and who else did he tell?
