Folks

Some of us just love to make all these caps that are posted here on this site...and on other sites.

I was hoping we could have a place where we could exchange ideas, discuss how each of us are developing a cap, what software each of us are using, how to develop ideas, critics (positive and negative/corrections), etc...

Like a online seminar...I really hope there is some interest and that we all can share..?

My first question is: where do you get the idea for a great cap..?

From my side, there are two initial starting points...1) I have this idea to a text that should be on the cap...can have been said something someone said that I want to put in a cuckold perspective, it can have been something I read, something I dreamt...or...2) I see a beautiful picture and start thinking...this picture needs to be developed to a cap...what is the picture saying to me...how will this develop...

Hope to develop this to be a interesting thread...

My what a great idea. So let me throw in my
two cents worth. Most of the the time it's the
image, the picture that triggers the idea for me.

I'll see that look and it's like she's talking to me
saying the words that you'll eventually read. Once
I've done one cap frequently I'll think of the words,
text for the next one and I'll have to do a quick
search for the image to fit the text. Sometimes
I'll then think of more text and need more images.
Frequently five of six times. Maybe you've noticed
that I do a lot of caps as a series or several on the
same theme. Sometimes while I'm working
withing a theme I'll just work through images and
the next text will pop out when I see the picture.

You'll notice that frequently I'll have typos and other
errors and part of that is that I'm just bad at those
things and part is that I'm frequently buzzed up on
coffee when I'm working. So I make lots of mistakes
and I'm not such a good self editor.

Several other threads have touched on some of
the things Norwegian mentioned some are as
follows.

https://www.cuckoldplace.com/27_71044_1.html#msg854777/

https://www.cuckoldplace.com/27_59449_1.html#msg572206/

https://www.cuckoldplace.com/27_68060_1.html#msg778419/

and then this.

http://https://www.cuckoldplace.com/27_51643_1.html#.Ukzqcq4Vi70/

Lastly I've attached an image that kind of shows what I do to an image
before I get around to doing the text. If you look closely you'll notice that
I had to extend the cropped image to the right to have room for the
caption which I haven't done yet.

Thanks Jane...an excellent contribution

I was hoping to get some response, however - when the master of caps is the first one to contribute, well then I hope there will be lots of followers...

I always wondered where you find all those beautiful ladies...you are an expert in finding the women with the right expression in their faces...which in my opinion is a must for an excellent cap...

Also thanks for all the links to various software...myself, I use PhotoShape...its a very easy program to use, nad downloading is free and easy...but it has large scale limitations...one of them being the ability to cut out parts of a picture...for that I therefore use PowerPoint...another limitation is to color parts of a picture in a transparent way...

Yes the pictures...

I have two folders that together have 5400 pictures
even though I mostly use the photos that I've found
recently.

As for sources it's

The hyperlink is visible to registered members only!

but now it's mostly tumblr. Tumblr has almost any
image you could want and all you need to do is
Google it. So Google for "pretty girls" and add tumblr
to the end of the query. You could of course use
any search term.

Once your at the tumblr site I frequently insert at the
end of the web address a "/archive" and hit enter
which gives me all of the images of the site, and
only the images at the site.

If you find a picture that you really like you can look
at were it came from and go there as who knows
maybe an even better one is there.

Good idea!

Here's my $0.02

There are two methods, and I use both;

1.-Start with the pic. I keep a collection of pics, found at the usual places in the net. Whenever I think that a picture might possibly be usable, I download it. Periodically, I
scan the pics, or part of them, and see if I am inspired to add a caption.

2.- Start with a caption. I keep a file of possible captions, and I add to it whenever a sentence or situation comes to the mind. Periodically I scan the file and try to think of a pic that would go well with a certain caption.

Also, sometimes I open the caption file in one window, the pics on another and try to find matches.

Norwegian, jane, fvs, and anyone else following this thread,

First, norwegian, thank you for starting this discussion.

I keep a folder on my computer that has the captions I've posted, the ones I've completed and yet to be posted, and the ones that I think might be good caption material in the future. I keep track of which ones I've posted by how I name the file.

I get those pictures wherever I can happen to find them. Lately, many of them have been coming from Tumblr. I would invite anyone reading this to "follow" me on Tumblr (and tell me this is where you're from). I'm Christinebitg on Tumblr.

I don't post much there though, just an occasional one that got a lot of attention from people on this site, and miscellaneous other things from time to time. The best way to see where I'm getting pictures from on Tumblr is to take a look at my profile there, to see who I'm following.

I just use MS Paint to do mine. It's not very sophisticated, but it's sufficient for what I'm doing.

I'll save the issue of selecting which ones to post, in what order, and how to name them for a later time.

For me, it's always the picture that dictates the text. Permisterally, I like pictures that really tell the story, the more explicit the better.

For me, the offense of the cuck by the bull in front of his wife is the ultimate. Those pics are extremely difficult to find which is pretty frustrating. I like to see the cuck overpowered by the bull in front of his wife. Since those pics are hard to come by, I have to look for pics of a bound male. What adds to the frustration for me is also that I don't want the wife as a dominatrix. In my sickness, I like her to be submissive to the bull and witness her man's offense in being powerd to watch etc...by the stronger alpha male.

Of course, having her taunt her helpless and humiliated husband a bit is fine, it really rubs it in for the cuck! But she shouldn't be dressed like a dominatrix which, again, is hard to find!

I'm interested to know the percentage of cucks out there who share my particular view of this kink. I'd guess about 20%.

One could write a book on this.

dicklet's supply shop maintains a cache of porn harvested from the net. Typically, the shop harvests 7-10,000 images per year. Tumblr is a good source, so is Imagefap. A good screen capture plug-in is also useful.

The captioning process begins when a caption artist scans the cache for a "captionable pic". dicklet employs captioners in three main areas: racial anxiety, gender identity crises, & sex-industry business development. Within each area, captioners are free to exercise considerable creative license as long as they adhere to dicklet's universal principles: the caption consumer must feel that the cap could happen to him. For this reamister, dicklet caps are often gritty and amateur.

The actual sketch of a caption is an art. The best captioners will wank themselves into a state of dripping arousal to get in the "mood". A quiet, distraction free environment helps. Our captioners report that "pictures speak to them."

After the caption is sketched it moves to editing. Some caps are lost here for a variety of technical details in the picture itself. Often the picture is inconsistent with captioners intent. A wedding ring may be lacking. A boutique hotel room may have been mistaken for a home bedroom. Sometimes the resolution or focus just isn't right. In some cases, the captioner may be able to negotiate a technical fix in Photoshop, but that can eat up precious captioning time. More often the captioner just returns to the cache for new material.

If the picture passes muster, editing moves on to the sketched text. dicklet has adopted a color code to assist the consumer. Pink is for sluts, green for white bois, brown for real men. Black is used for short third permister narratives, or occasionally when two real men speak. The next issue is caption efficiency. dicklet does allow "short story" type caps, but they are capped at 1/3 of monthly output.

Editing also adjusts font size and spacing and mates the text to the picture. Powerpoint is a good tool for this. When editing is complete, the photo moves to production. Production moves the proof work into Photoshop and sizes it at about 200kb as a jpg. They work with the caption artist on a title and then send the cap to distribution.

Distribution receives incoming caps in sets of 4. They prepare thank you responses to all who have provided feedback since the last publication, load the caps into the Cuckold Place interface, and publish.

The last step is most important. Market research. Research reviews feedback, noting which caps get traction, and provides summaries to the captioners. Research tracks the views to rating ratio and how long the thread is on the front page. These steps help make dicklet caps the most off the wall caps around. It's our mission to give you the best wanking experience possible!

Norwegian,

thanks for starting this discussion.

Like most, I collect oodles and oodles of pictures with the idea of using them in a caption. Mostly from Tumblr but also from some "yahell" groups that I belong to.

Sometimes a picture speaks to me immediately and if I have time, I cap it right away. If not I save it with the beginning of the cap text as a reminder.

I primarily use Windows paint and at times SoftDraw It's free and has some additional features like a soft eraser and spray paint capability. Also resizing pictures is easier with SD - more precise and you can 'ramp up the quality after resizing. It's simple enough that even this old fart can handle it. I always work on the KISS system.

The hyperlink is visible to registered members only!

Sometimes the reverse happens. I started with a serious of caps, abandoned the idea and turned it into a full fledged story here in the story forum.

One thing I would like to learn is how to do "balloons" for text.

To Timmy,

Power Point has great balloons. You might want to try OpenOffice if cost is an issue. It comes close to the Microsoft product in basic functions.

I haven't posted many recently, but it has always been the picture for me. In part is asking myself "What is she saying", but I also try to think how a wife in that position would feel and let that set her tone for the caption. I tend to prefer to convey her feelings with simple short captions, but I've done a variety from a whole series to a single word. I like to leave the reader contemplating how he would feel to hear the words spoken directly to him.

Mine almost always start with a picture, one that practically captions itself. The perfect picture:

1) is a woman beautiful enough to cause angst over having her used/owned by another man.
2) delivers emotion by a facial expression - teasing, warning, flaunting an air of cool indifference or even pride in her infidelity.
3) is believable (to me) as a wife - not too slutty, not too young, a loving housewife with a hint of class.
4) one of high technical quality. If it isn't 1280 res, I'll chase through many links to find one that is.

Most of my pics come from various tumblr sites I've bookmarked and check regularly. I grab one at the least probability that I can use it later, because trying to go back and find it later is too frustrating. Presently I have over 13,000 potential pics that haven't been capped yet, backed up to two separate external drives, along with folders that hold my past cap jpgs, the corresponding working editable graphics files, and pics that have been used in past caps. You never know when the tumblr's new owner will decide to go PG in the future.

I'm a visual guy, and a serious amateur photographer, so picture quality is a high priority to me. I seldom use a pic as I find it. I use Paint Shop Pro for much of the work, go to Light Room when I need finer adjustments, and now and again Elements for the oddball stuff. Every pic is adjusted for exposure (shadow & highlight detail), sharpness, and noise reduction. Tiny adjustments add up to make what at first looks like a great pic sparkle and shine. The pic is then re-sized to fit a standard background template, edges softened, and the text added, sometimes taking a color from the pic for the font color. The text is spaced and sized for good balance, and the cap exported as a jpg for posting. The original pspimage file is saved in case later editing is necessary.

That's about it. A cap can take me minutes, or over an hour to make. If I have a dry spell finding motivation on tumblr, I have my library to revisit. So many women there, so little time. And if L wants to play, well, that comes first...

Very interesting feed-back from talented captineers...

Looks like making caps is more a science than I suspected. I also use a lot of time on each of them and seldom uses a picture as I found it...adjusting colors, shading, removing unwanted item, enhancing those things that should be the focus (maybe the small detail that initially made the picture interesting in the first place)...

...a nervous smile from a woman who is a bit embarrassed to tell her husband what happened...
...a wink in her eye...teasing
...a patronizing expression..."it really about me...not you hubby" kind of look...
...a surprising face asking..."really..?"

What does the word "Caption" really mean...? According to Wikipedia:

Caption may refer to:
- Caption (comics convention), a small press and independent comic convention held annually in Oxford, England
- Closed captioning, used to provide the text of a show's audio portion to those who may have trouble hearing it
- Subtitle (captioning), textual versions of the dialog in film and other visual media
- Inter-title, a piece text edited into a film to convey information like dialogue
- Photo caption, explanatory text about specific published photos

Some criteria for a good caption... The hyperlink is visible to registered members only!

Thanks for many good contributions....keep them cuming

Another issue...

I like to make my caps in black/white - grey scales - or 'sepia'...and have sometimes reflected on this...why..?

Maybe its because I am a wannbe (at the moment - used to be cucked by my ex-wife...)...so per definition, its more like a fantasy...fantasy = dream...and do people dream in colors..?

Do People Dream in Color?

Do people dream in color? According to dream educator, Richard Wilkermister, researchers believe that most dreams are in color, but many may recall them in black-and-white or gray tones because the intricate details of dreams tend to fade very quickly. Dreaming is quite visual in nature, but those who have heightened awareness of color during waking hours may be more likely to recall their dreams in color than their less color-aware counterparts.

This signifies that the meaning of colors in dreams is of great significance, especially for those who usually recall dreams in black-and-white

The hyperlink is visible to registered members only!

Black and white picture is very popular on e.g. tumblr...but...I may often find colored pictures that I convert to b/w...I used to go to art school may years ago...I love colors...but for me...at least for my captions...b/w is my preference...

Maybe it can be interesting for those who do not make caps (only read) to see how one is developed..?

I made a step my step illustration...

1) the original - loaded down from some web page...
2) I like the black and white thing...go I use the 'grey scale' function...takes some few seconds...
3) One thing with a cap is to enhance what is interesting in the picture...the girl is sexy and should be more inn front...so I colored her skin back to a natural sexy color... (actually...it's sepia)...then her eyes...I colored them blue...
4) I like it better when the text (the caption) is on a one-colored surface...(black/white in my case)...so some of the picture should be one-colored...I normally use some shading function...by doing the shading,, I can also take away parts of the picture that doesn't belong in the caption...something that may be disturbing...The shading part can be done inside the frames of the existing picture...or additional area can be made...
1) the original
1) the original
2) grey scale
2) grey scale
3) skin and eyes
3) skin and eyes
4) shading
4) shading

of course...there are alternatives to all steps in the process...that is what makes making caps so interesting
5) alternative shading
5) alternative shading

finally...the text...the captioning...

I always use a lot of time on this...but most often...the picture is talking to me...one question to ask...if she is saying something...to whom does she talk...to her lover..? to her husband..? to someone else..? or maybe she is thinking something nasty...?

Here are two alternatives...

So...that's what the process of making a cap...is for me...takes 20-30 minutes maybe...as soon as you have found the picture...which normally takes a lot more time...

Then...one thing I find important...the name of the Cap...here it's possible to give the cap a 'deeper meaning'...in my opinion...a must...(I see that not all is using this option...for me its important...)

Hope the 'caption readers' learned a little...?

Norwegian did such a great job I thought I'd give it a try.

I use Gimp for all of my work. It's pretty powerful but I
only use a few of it's features.

So photo one is the original image. I was taken by it's
painterly quality of the color and the overall softness of
the image. I also like the calm but pensive quality of
the model. At this point I'm already running possible
text through my head. I'm trying to hear what she's
saying, to you.

If you've looked at my work you may have noticed that
typically my images are 800 pixels high by 1150 pixels
long. Don't ask me why, it's just what I decided on a
while ago. Maybe it's that it gives a fairly large image
but not so large that most people don't have to pan around
to see it.

The original image is 750X750 so the first thing I do is
scale the image to 800X800. Then I change the canvas
size to 1150X800. That's image two.

In image three I've filled in the added canvas with the
dominate color of the original image and by image four
I've filled in the darker part of the added canvas. I did
that by using the clone tool and the smudge tool. If
you look close you can see the repeated vertical lines
left by the smudge tool. I could take them out but
sometimes I just leave them because I like them. I
could have also used the clone tool to make the added
part of the image exactly like the original but was in too
much of a hurry to bother with it and I think it looks OK
the way it is.

Then I add the text. It wasn't easy as I never really
figured out were I was going with the text so I'm not
real pleased with it but sometimes you just have to
move on.

Notice that I made the text the color of the wall then
increased the transparency a bit to make it lighter.
Sometimes I make the text the same color as the
back ground but a darker or lighter color to get the
contrast you need to be able to read it.

Somewhere in there I used the curves tool to make
the mid range values darker. I'm a big fan of the curves
tool as typically I like my images a bit darker than the
original image is. Also you may have noticed that I
generally give the models lips a bit of pop. Ok a lot
of pop and I generally use the saturation tool, it keeps
the color the same, but sometimes I need to use the
curves tool.

So below is the final image.

I save all my work as JPG's no matter
what format they start out in. Lately
I've been trying to save the final image
at 80-85% quality as that gives you a
smaller final image size, making it faster
to download. Given it's choice the software
would save the image at a much hight
quality making it much larger and slower
to download.

I never save the image in the Gimp format
I guess because once i'm done, I'm done.
That means there is no easy way to edit
the image again. That goes especially so
for the text which is why my text is the
way it is.

Typically I do five or six images at a time.
Sometimes I'll do an image if I like it and
just leave it on my desktop until I can find
the text but I have to say that seldom does
the text come that way and I usually end
up deleting the images to make room on
my desktop.

Yes there are lots of images that I love but
never find a voice for. So the just sit in the
downloads folder or sometimes I'll make
them into a desktop.

Thanks to Norwegian for this excellent topic.

Like Jane, Don, and others have stated, the image usually dictates the story.

I chose Asians because it's fun to imagine dark thoughts and wicked hearts behind their innocence and beauty.

My images come from everywhere, including usenet, forums, blogs, etc.

I use Photoshop 7. I'm a novice at PS but I can perform basic functions needed for a decent caption. One of the best features is Spell Check. I tend to misspell words more often than I like to admit. Unfortunately it will not correct my grammar and punctuation.

I struggle with editing. My girls tend to be a bit chatty. Sometimes they talk so much I have to create a small series. Rather than let her toss her darts in one or two sentences, I prefer to put her in a situation or scene with her husband. A scene requires dialogue and a dialogue requires space. That is where I struggle the most. I want to express the words, ideas, and emotions without having my readers fall off their chairs from boredom.

Some random thoughts after reading all the above messages...

First *Thank You* for the Wikipedia link. It's fabulous. Other thoughts:

I try to put the words to a picture right away if I can. Many times, I have a picture that I thought of something lovely to put with it, only to not remember those words later. I'm also an amateur mistergwriter, so I know that inspiration can be fleeting. If you don't capture those words *now*, they may be gone later.

In other cases, I may think a picture has potential, and I revisit it later. If I look at something enough times without coming up with good text, I'll eventually give up and move the picture to a different folder, out of the caps area.

Colors: I try to use colors that are from the original picture for both the text background and for the text itself. That's especially true if the text color is taken from an intimate part of the picture's subject permister. It makes me feel a bit naughty, and that feeling is one of the benefits of doing caps. In other cases, I may take the text color from another suitable place on the subject, often hair near the nape of the neck, just to get the shade I want.

Sometimes I adjust the brightness, occasionally the contrast, but that's about it for those.

I try to select pictures of attractive women, but that's not a strict requirement. Sometimes it's a couple or once in a while, a threesome. Sometimes not even a particularly beautiful woman, depending on where the text is going. But the picture is the first thing for me; the rest flows from that. That's not to say that I don't get on kicks of a particular theme. But I start with the picture before I imagine the text. As a mistergwriter, I can always invent text. I can't make up a picture, only just find them.

I work on caps when I'm motivated to, even if I don't post all of them. Consequently, I have hundreds of them that I've completed but haven't posted yet. I tend to post the most recent work, because I am more turned on by them.

I prefer color pictures, not black-and-white or sepia, but it depends on the picture. I'll pass up a marginal B&W picture, in preference to color.

Titling is a whole 'nother topic. I like to summarize in the title, even though my caps are quite spare by some people's standards. I like to leave a little room in it, such that reading the text of the cap (after seeing the title earlier) still leaves some room for a bit of a "zing." Plus even when I summarize, I try to reword it a little bit, so that it's still interesting to read both.

My permisteral situation: I guess you could call me a wanna-be now. My GF has dated guys during the 6 1/2 years we've been living together, but she isn't seeing anyone right now. She knows how much I would like her to start again. She says that at the moment, she's too busy, but that she's not ruling it out again in the future. So I'm hopeful.

A lot of useful information on the techniques here. I myself use Kolourpaint (free
in Unix systems). I vary the size, but use always the same font, as a kind of trademark. See my post above for some more comments.

But a warning to all wannabe captioners: the technical advice here in this topic will be of no help whatever unless your combined selection of words and picture has the necessary heat and sexiness! Do NOT lose sight of this.

use whether a $600 copy of Photo Shop or MS Paint the most
important part of the captioning process it the IDEA.

Sometimes not even a particularly beautiful woman, depending on where the text is going

A beautiful woman...? What is beautiful woman..?

I have known some women that are working as models...and there is sometimes a distinct difference between a beautiful woman and a "model type" woman...some women are so fucking beautiful...but once on a picture, they fall through...

One have to be a very trained photographer to see the difference...between some truly beautiful woman...and one that will look good in a picture...

I most often look for a sexy woman rather than a beautiful one....it's all about the expression on her face...I have posted here one example...this woman in my mind is truly sexy...but is she beautiful..?

I mean...she is not directly ugly...but beautiful..?

Her body is perfect...I am talking here about her face...

This woman is so sexy...and is a first top class potential for a cap of mine....

.

Beauty is so in the eye of the beholder
that you should just be grateful that the
world is full of lovely women.

Your absolutely right about the photo beauty.
With all the assistants and the stylists they
can make anyone beautiful for 100th. of a second.

But the purpose of this post is the image.
Look familiar? It's kind of funny but the original
image is not one that I would have ever picked
for adding a caption but it worked out OK.
