Our experience was a gradual progression over several years:
1) taking erotic photos
2) posting photos online and her enjoying seeing the reaction of men who contacted us or posted messages (she liked the attention and this experience led her to realise she has exhibitionist tendencies even though she is shy)
3) meeting a "soft swap" couple
4) performing on webcam for certain men
5) meeting couples for full swap (swinging)
6) going to a swingers party
7) meeting a single guy with whom she has good chemistry and great sex
At each stage she has been through worries about the various risks and we've had regular periods of "retirement".
My wife is not a typical "hot wife" - more the "girl next door" type.
Doing this has not been a natural thing for her since it goes against all moral standards to which she has been conditioned by her upbringing. But she enjoys the sex and has now reached the stage where she realises that our relationship will not be damaged by our extra-curricular activities.
If it was possible to find a regular lover with who she formed a connection - and who was not too promiscuous - then she'd be content. As it is, she is concerned about the risks since most men who seek "hot wives" are likely to be high risk and have multiple partners.
