My wife didn't believe I could let her relax with another guy. Her reaction was "yeah, right, I can see you letting me do that!", but gradually, over about 2 years, I persuaded her to try it.

I told her that it wasn't the thought of her having sex with someone else that would upset me - quite the opposite, in fact - but the prospect of her having to lie and deceive me by doing it behind my back. I felt fairly sure that with her having quite a busy social life anyway, that there was a fair chance that she would at some time be unfaithful - if she hadn't already.
