RAR Password Cracker
This program is intended to recover lost passwords for RAR/WinRAR archives of versions 2.xx
and 3.xx. The program finds by the method of exhaustive search all possible combinations of
characters ("bruteforce" method), or using passwords from lists ("wordlist" or "dictionary"
method). Self-extracting archives and multivolume archives are supported. The program is
able to save a current state (you can interrupt the program at any time, and restart from
the same state later). Estimated time calculator allows you to configure the program more
carefully.

This util is shareware, but there is a cracked .exe file supplied in the package! - you run the setup prog then replace the installed.exe with the one in the "crack" folder...
It will probably take a long time to work out a password, and there is always the chance that the password might have Japanese characters in it?? Don't know if that's possible.
Anyway give it a try and good luck!

Thanks for your post but I had already did some research and apparently recent versions of RAR (2 and 3) are virtually impossible to crack:
"Starting from version 3.0, RAR has been using a strong AES algorithm, which doesn't allow any attacks more effective than the brute force. Besides, the encryption is implemented so that brute force speed on modern computer is very low, about 100 passwords per second. This carries inference that RAR 3.x system is the strongest between popular encryption systems in the context of brute force. This means you couldn't recover RAR password longer than 6-7 symbols if you have no information about the password."

That's a bit discouraging, but when I have the time I'm going to give it a shot anyway!
A couple of other things, which you have probably already found/tried...
I'm a bit busy and, as I mentioned, my internet connection makes it hard to download big files, but I did wonder if the ID:xxxxxx on the first line of the link listing might be the pwd as several postings have the same one, so may be from the same person, same pwd?? I haven't tried it yet because I downloaded a first part of a Tokyo-Hot to test this idea and as luck would have it, it didn't need a password! Winrar could extract it and demanded the remaining parts.

Guys sometimes the rar password must b typed in. If it still does not work there not much you can really do to fix it.
