MAYBE, if the natural father was white, the baby may be accepted; in some quarters even REVERED, as it would be light skinned; a well known fact that Indians LOVE light skin for themselves & their children!
If mixed raced black---all hell would break loose, as the baby's features would easily indicate 'black' blood! The couple would be dis-inherited for sure. The family shame, honour, & all those pompous & hypocrital would come into play!
Also IF a mixed raced white child were born, reference could ALWAYS be made to maybe some kind of 'mischief' that had taken place some 3 or so generations ago---the Raj & all that---& the 'blame' could be placed on the 'throw-back' gene---the 'Anglo-Indian' gene coming through---but yes, ULTIMATELY that baby would be accepted, & when at 'marriable' age, that young person would have a premium attached---on account of his or her lighter skin!
