I've seen lots of suggestions here about why the cuck-wife-bull triangle has such a powerful hold on the imagination and why the emotions they generate are so powerfully exciting.
Without getting too Sigmund F about it, it seems to me the answers very simple.

I believe it is more common than you may think, cybermuffin. The role of mother and the relationship they have with their kids is pretty much a no go area in that people naturally feel a bond of affection and respect for her which excludes any discussions about her sexuality.
