It used to mean something in the swinging community in the UK... but in general use it just meant that the woman had a chain round her ankle! I wear mine on my right ankle....not sure anyone really takes much notice but for me it means I am looking for a man and I wear over stockings too which I was told signifies bareback allowed....under stockings means protected
