Occurs when two eggs (ova) from the same cycle are fertilized by sperm in separate acts of sexual intercourse. When the sperm is from different sexual partners, the appropriate term is heteropaternal superfecundation, and describes twins who have the same mother, but two different fathers.

how often does this happen in a population and has anyone here been involved in this type of pregnancy????

Rare..not really. If you have multiple partners things can happen. No one wants to admit it in the newspapers but only inthe doctors office with the majority of time only the Wife knows the results.

Superfecundation most commonly happens within hours or days of the first instance of fertilization with ova released during the same cycle. There is a small time window when eggs are able to be fertilized. Sperm cells can live inside a woman’s body for 4–5 days. Once ovulation occurs, the egg remains viable for 12–48 hours before it begins to disintegrate. Thus, the fertile period can span 5–7 days.

So sex with one partner the sperm stays inside her for 5 days, then her husband has sex with her and there is the 2nd sperm donor for the Uterus.
Now sometimes if there are more eggs available with a 3rd Loc=ver in that time frame who knows. Lots of this happens and we never hear about it.

Intercourse with two different partners has occures within 48 hours of each partner
and often goes unrecognized at pregnancy and time of birth...unless....DNA is accomplised...
and that rarely ever happens.
