Heya everyone,

Just a quick request for some advice here.

What is the most common/popular file service for video downloads these days?

It used to be rapidshare, but now I see filemisteric and hotfile a lot.

If I'm going to spend money on one of these services, I want to know that it will be useful here as it is my favorite site.

Anyhow, any input is greatly appreciated.

Good question. File hosting is like Beta v VHS (DVD v Bluray); eventually there may only be one or two but right now it's hard to be happy with just one choice.

This is totally subjective, but we've tried Depositfile, Rapidshare, and Hotfile.

Both Depositfile and Rapidshare seem to be used less and less frequently. They're both pretty reliable, but RS seems to be more aggressive about deleting xxx files. Of course it doesn't help if the uploader uses a filename that pretty much says "hey this is PORN". Rapidshare files are often password protected, which can be a pain.

Hotfile seems to us to be much more widely used. It's very reliable and does not seem to spend a lot of time finding and deleting "objectionable" material. There are also a number of useful independent Search options for hotfile, such as hotfile123, that make finding videos etc. easier. Uploaders don't appear to password their files very often. If you like Hentai/Adult Cartoons, it's also a good way to go.

Filemisteric is in widespread use, and might be a good option. Not familiar with reliability, as we are not subscribers.

Bottom line: You'll most likely want more than just one subscription. Hope this helps.
