Recent work casts doubt on the whole validity of the "id, ego and super-ego" concepts. Although a slightly more modern use of the term "ego" might be supposed to apply in the case of some arm chair experts.....

So if an individual cannot understand the subconscious workings of his/her OWN mind, why then should it be possible for one persons subconscious be capable of evaluation by conscious mind of another? After all the inscrutibility of subconscious would still 'by definition' apply, surely! Unless of course we pay to much attention to trendy conversations in the student bar about discredited Victorian psychoanalysis??
